HYALASE
Hyalase injections diffuse and reabsorb hyaluronic acid dermal fillers for those who have an undesired effect from previous filler application. The enzyme dissolves the dermal filler to improve asymmetry or rectify bumps and other side effects. The patient may wish to have the area re-filled once the problem after correction.
-
What does the procedure involve? The treatment is very quick and straightforward. We will administer the Hyalase® through a series of injections. You may feel a slight sting as the needle enters the skin.
-
Who is suitable for?Hyalase® is suitable for patients who wish to reverse the results of their dermal filler. The filler will naturally break down over 6-12 months but for a more instant resolve or adverse side effects, Hyalase® injections may be appropriate to dissolve the filler quicker.
-
When can I see the results? You may notice a subtle improvement in the treatment area, but the diffusion of the hyaluronic acid happens over several weeks. Some patients experience a deflated appearance in the area the next day once your own hyaluronic acid starts to synthesise. This appearance will gradually get better.
-
How long does it take? The treatment takes approximately 10 minutes.
-
What are the risks?Following the treatment, minor side effects may occur. These reactions include redness, swelling, mild pain, bruising and tenderness at the injection site and usually resolve within a few days. In rare cases, you may have an allergic reaction. It’s also possible for some of your own hyaluronic to be reabsorbed, but the body will regenerate your levels naturally.
-
How does it work?Hyalase® consists of a group of enzymes that work to degrade and reabsorb the molecular bonds that make up the hyaluronic acid.
-
What is the downtime? There is no downtime with this treatment, but you may experience swelling or bruising which should subside within a couple of days.
-
How many treatments are required? The results are variable, so patients typically have a couple of filler-dissolving sessions. However, some may need to repeat the treatment every three weeks over several sessions until the filler completely dissolves.
-
Is it painful? Most patients do not experience pain but will feel a slight stinging sensation as the injector administers the fluid.
